Five on Friday.

Hello and Happy Friday! Does it seem like this week has flown by? I am extremely excited about another long weekend.. a jaunt to Jackson for new running shoes, taking down the Christmas tree, a super laid back New Year's party.
I hope everyone else's holiday has been the best ever too. I feel guilty for the amount of fun I had! Here are a few things that have made me smile this week.

I went to a beautiful wedding and reception and got to rock out my Carlisle leopard belt and Davis and Whiting purse. It all felt very glam, though the food was so delicious, I needed to loosen that belt a bit.

It is so fun to have talented friends who make the most delicious truffles imaginable. And them sharing them with your family.

Especially when said family brings you neon.

I found the perfect little tray for my kitchen at my favorite crazy store in town. For $1.

And also had the most beautiful woman move in. I have been dying over this painting by my friend, Shawn Hodges and am THRILLED that someone was paying attention!

I hope everyone has a very Happy New Year weekend. And if you feel like coming to take my Christmas tree down and pack everything up, you are so welcome.
Thanks.

Brotherly Love.

I have had the best time with my latest project.. and it is almost time to pull it all together. I was hired to design two brothers bedrooms.
Two totally different brothers but both adorable and with good ideas of what they wanted.

First.. the hunter. This seven year old killed his first deer this season and is super pumped. He asked for either bunk beds (parents said no) or a tree stand (I might have flinched). I think he will be happy regardless. We started with a great lamp made of deer sheds and added to it with this..

That bedding just does it for me.. and we know I love a cowhide. I think he will dig that the most.
With white walls that needed to stay, we added color to a desk that has been passed down form grandfather to father and now to son. We used a bright hunter's orange but super toned down with a dark stain and a lot of distressing.

The older brother was the opposite of the spectrum. This twelve year old has STYLE and a great collection of items to work with. He wanted a luxury hotel suite. The mother is adding in a very modern flat gas fireplace and a flat screen tv for Christmas. He has a beautiful queen bed with a high headboard and we are pulling in a red leather chair. Just to add to the richness, we are going with masculine grays and pattern and lots of black and white photography.
That plaid fabric and the felt pendant are running a tight race for favorites. Lots of nickle finishes and layers- I think anyone would love to check into this suite.

I'm dying to start pulling everything together..
All before Christmas!
Keep your fingers crossed.

5 Things for Friday

Since I have become way more lackadaisical about this blog.. my top 5 is running on Friday this week. And I am fine with that.

1. I don't know if it is because I have been working though the wall art department at work this week, but I am loving the Audubon style art work in spaces lately. This is quite the departure for me since I am usually a big proponent of originals and supporting artists, but sometimes the impact of an oversized print of a long legged bird just does it for me.

I would definitely try to pull it off like this. Awesome stuff.

2. Emily Henderson..period. but especially her fabulous tablesetting for Mark and Graham.

Gold Skull and animals.
Happiness.
No words.
Really I have plenty of words. Henderson is one of my favorites.. just because she can go from moody to bright and everything works. Girls got style.
That chandelier? Love it like I love the one in the backroom of the Crystal Grill.
Also am dying over how those portraits are framed. Genius.

3. I need these like a need a hole in my head. But....  I've got parties to go to, and sometimes a girl needs some party shoes.

4. Speaking of parties.. the 4th annual Ornament Swap went off this week without a hitch. We're old pros at this.

For Laura Merrill's awesome toffee recipe.. see her post here. Really, we are all waiting for more of her Christmas Eve dip. YUM.

5. This is what I want in a bathroom one day.. All white and a fabulous colorful rug.

Isn't that just good? It has my name all and my dream house over it.

Happy Friday Folks.
And let the Good Times Roll!

The World is Your Oyster.

That is such a strange saying, don't you think?
I actually had to Google it and came up with..
One rules the world.; One is in charge of everything.
or
One has the ability and the freedom to do anything or go anywhere.
Interesting.
I like all of those things.

Back to the point, the love of oysters came late to me in life, but is a real love just the same.
In honor of next week's trip to one of my favorite cities ever and the mass quantities of oysters we will consume, here are a few related pieces I swoon over...

I love Sheila Gourlay's work.. and would LOVE to have one of her oysters in my own home one day.  Definitely on the wish list.

Oyster plates are gorgeous.. I should really pull mine out more. Even for just random things other than serving actual oysters.

Kinda scary looking, huh?
But, YUM.

I have always loved these paintings by Savannah artist, Bellamy Murphy.
Tough call between one of these and a Gourlay. Both would work in my house.
The colors in these are amazing.

Top 5

Here are some things that are making me smile this week..

Roses in December. My Knock-outs are still going strong. I love that pop of red/ hot pink as I walk out my back door. Even better? Bringing it inside.

This is my favorite children's book. Do you have it? I'm obsessed with giving it. Sweet Marcel even has a YouTube video.. Adorable.

Love Love Love a good Miles Redd space. And Loved this Skirted Roundtable Interview on Cote De Texas. His book would be a very good gift this year.. just sayin.

Sidenote: Other coveted books found at Turnrow..

The weather has been pretty phenomenal here lately. I pre-celebrated an awesome wedding Saturday with champagne, good friends and a little football. I think I should try and fit champagne in at least once a week. That might be my 2013 resolution.

Another big deal of 2013.. I will be running my first half marathon! As of Sunday, these guys took me 8 miles. And then I collapsed.

Have a great Tuesday!
