Party-Port

I know I have posted this picture before...
but I'm obsessed.

Everytime I see it, I want to throw a party. I want to paint the back wall of my carport black, paint stripes on the floor, hang drapes, and throw a party.
I don't see that being a problem, do you?
Anybody want to help??

Yellow

While the rest of my yard needs a complete overhaul, these pops of yellow make me smile...

Is it Spring?
And did anyone else's herbs survive the winter?
My chives, parsley, rosemary and mint are THRIVING!
I feel a mojito afternoon coming soon!

Ahh, Monday.

Good Morning, Monday.
Not 100% sure I am ready for you to be here. I needed a few more hours of weekend/ sleep.
This was a super- fabulous weekend though.. The Greenwood Junior Auxiliary 2012 Cotton Ball was a raging success, but since I forgot my camera, I have to beg friends to email pictures today.  My dress did arrive in that fabulous box above. It made me very happy.
Have a great day, chicas.
I will gladly accept Alluvian Spa gift cards today to rejuvenate my dance ravaged body. Surely I'm not too old to dance for hours in 4 inch heels?
Nah.

Case of the Wants: Kitchen Light

I feel a strong want need for this fixture in my kitchen. In a darker finish. Heaven forbid I find EXACTLY what I want... but I'm pretty sure it does exist in a darker finish though.
Cause who needs a dirty ceiling fan? Not this girl.

Guest Bath Planning Meeting #2

A bit masculine for me, but man... That's a nicely accessorized bathroom.
But back to mine.. Has anyone out there used epoxy paint on their tile? Did you do it yourself?
I have to cover up this...
But even better.... there's not just one lovely shade of brown, but two.

Thoughts? Tips? Ideas?

Thursday Ramblings

I slept in today. And while I should be drying my hair and getting dressed.. I am instead playing on pinterest... and being very critical. It's kind of one of those "stream of consiousness" days, so here goes...

I think this shelving is beautiful. I would not have it in my kitchen because of my incredible OCD, but I would love it as bookshelves. Maybe in the kitchen if it were for things other than styrofoam cups. I can't look at that.

I love antlers and deer heads. Love them. I especially love these dark wooden ones. I would take points off for being fake, but they are so beautifully done.
Also, I love that the violin is in the shelves.. like my ukeulele, which I find is more "art" that "instrument".

Mexican Street Corn is the bomb- diggity.

They found out about the sparkle party.

Contemplating a shower curtain like this for the guest bath. Or the master. I'm a fan. I also love the door frame. Ahhhhh.

I would love sconces like this for the sofa area in my kitchen. But not in white. And don't say paint them... I thought of that, but they are out of stock. Bummer.

I dyed my hair this color Tuesday, and I LOVE it. And I desparately need to go dry it and go to work.

I would take up cross-stitching for the sole purpose to do these Beastie Boys lyrics.

Happy Thursday Folks, that is all...

Dinner

I do not cook. I am like my mother and feel that it is my choice to cook or not, and I choose not too. Also like her, I am a fine cook, but would rather focus those talents on things like party foods. Give us a phyllo cup and we can go to town.
Last night though, I pulled out my skills for a real dinner. Maybe not according to the food pyramid, but to me lasagna, salad and bread is dinner.

White Chicken and Artichoke Lasagna.

This also shows off my pinning skills... I found the recipe here.

Dumpster Chair

I love this chair.

I found it sitting by a dumpster when I lived in Columbus. I felt that its proximity to the dumpster made it fair game, so I took it upstairs to make it my own.
You know I have been on a big fabric kick lately, but I have mostly been looking to recover a larger chair for my living room. I found the fabric. It was perfect. Except for the fact that there were only 2 yards... and I needed 7. And it's discontinued. And the company is closed.
Bummer.

I wanted that fabric. What could I use a yard or two for? Not pillows.. I have those planned out. Then I thought of my little dumpster chair. It needed some love. The arms and back were all bleached out and there were scratches all over. The seat was still the pleather that was on it when I found it.
I love an afternoon project.
First I used a combination of these two products. I didn't even sand before. I just karate kidded it... wipe on, wipe off. Easy Easy.

The arms still look a little worn, but the chair looks a lot more even. Then with my trustly staple gun.. which has seen it's last days I think... I attached the fabric to the seat.

And Done. I love the change! The fabric is the perfect sidekick to the teal sofa/ green lamps... still looks neutral but definitely belongs now.

{Sorry about the phone photos... I will replace with real ones asap!}

Guest Bath Planning Meeting #1

OH, the time has come that I have GOT to focus on that guest bathroom. I have Frida's food in there for the sole purpose that I will have to face that room every day.
It's Really Bad.
So, we're having a planning meeting this morning, which means I'm going to tell you my basic ideas and you're going to put your two cents in.
Please? Thank you.
Oh, and I don't even have a picture of my guest bath, so just imagine its awfulness.
Here's a sneak peak of the bedroom...

I'm going to stick with those colors but go with a look like this...

*Painting the cabinets. They are now black.
I'm thinking a color, but there is
A LOT of brown tile in there we have to work with.
*Update the mirror.
*Update the faucet
*Add pattern, either on the walls or in the shower curtain.
Or both.
*Add something fun. Those sconces are Great!
*Cover up existing flooring. For Cheap.

Fabric Overload

I've been completely cracking out on fabric lately. Fabric for projects and fabric for myself. I'm thinking about recovering a chair for my living room instead of buying a new one. I also have a small arm chair I pulled out of the dumpster in Columbus that needs a new life.
*I have lots of chairs*
So I took to online fabric shopping last night, and without rhyme or reason, these are the swatches I saved...

What I learned:
I can never tell online how I would feel about a fabric.
I am obviously being pulled in a Southwestern
direction which is super- different.
I can't have a white background with Frida.
She likes to hide bread in chairs.
I love a stripe.
I wish the pink stripe in the third sample was red.
I love the ikat but not sure if its overkill with an red oriental.
Maybe on the smaller chair.
I want the bottom fabric for wallpaper.
Or maybe on the smaller chair.

Random Tuesday thoughts.
Thanks for listening.

New House on the Block

*That's no turtle house, that's a turtle mansion*

When I was little, my dad would bring me "turtle houses" from the woods. I never thought of what might have happened to the actual turtles. Maybe they just moved from house to house? No? The three on the right are ones he found and gave me.. truely three of my most cherished things. The monster on the left? Thats the new ginormous mansion that just moved in. A pre- happy birthday present from my mom.
What a show off!

(The turtle, not my mom.)

A case of the wants: Toms Ballets

Did anyone else stay up til 11pm last night to order the new Tom's ballet flats?
I did.. without knowing the price.
$80? Ouch.
I want the ones on the bottom.
I LOVE them.
I sadly had to have a coming-to-Jesus meeting
with myself about the price tag.
My birthday is in 2 months, if anyone is interested.

What's In Store

Wow. Februrary is here. How did that happen? One good thing about this month is that all the fun goodies we found at High Point are starting to come into the store!
We picked up a line, Precedent by Sherrill, that really was one of my favorite finds, and one of the awesome down sofas came in this week..

It's long and plush and would look oh so fabulous with some fun pillows.
And if neutral is not your style (sounds familiar...)
the gorgeous fabrics are all from Dwell Studio.

I'm not giving up Tallulah, but just sayin.
Someone I know needs this sofa
just so I can come take a nap on it.
