Dream House: Black Panes

I think a lot about my dream house. It's not a mansion overlooking some body of water. It's actually a normal house not too far from the one I live in now. I have never been inside...actually I am a little afraid to in case I will be disappointed. But in my head, there are a thousand things I would do with it. Painted brick exterior, new kitchen and baths. I know the backyard though.. I walk by it every morning, and it is filled with hydrangeas and other gorgeous things.
And though it makes me sound like a house- stalker, I can see the back of the house, with a glassed in sunroom, and this is what I imagine...

Oh how I love black paned windows and doors! And the style suits the house perfectly.
Let's look at more...

See, she looks so happy with her black paned french doors.

I have no desire for a pool unless it came with its own pool boy, but this one would look pretty phenomenal in that back yard.

Crack. With a Stocked Bar. Please and Thank you.

Pretty sure I could get away with painting the interior doors black too.

A kitchen even I would love to cook in. Or just sit on the counter with a glass of wine.

Ahhhh. A girl can dream, right?

Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary...

These guys never cease to amaze me.
I forget I planted them years ago,
and then BAM!
I wish I could show a full yard shot-
but my yard guys haven't been here in 2 weeks
(Where ARE yall??)
So in the meantime,
Enjoy this little pop o' color!

A. Hays Town

Whoops! I know I said I would be back yesterday, but (real) writing has been keeping me busy. So I am leaving you with some beautiful pictures of the architecture of A. Hays Town. (Note: Hint of what I'm writing about)

Aren't they lovely? I love his style, the dark shutters, the brick.
I think I even read somewhere that he was so detail oriented, he would recommend a certain kind of dog to the homeowners.
I'm thinking Springer Spaniel.

What a Week!

"I've fallen, and I can't get up."
Seriously. I had to send that text out Sunday morning while laying on my kitchen floor... after shimmying on my back across my house for an hour to my phone.
I spent the better part of the week staring at this..

A thrown out back is ZERO fun.
Luckily, I have an awesome group of friends who took care of me.
And threw a dinner party at my house while I was incapacitated.
With plenty of wine to dull the pain.

I will be back Monday in full effect.
(No pun intended)

Friday Crush

I have had the great pleasure of covering several homes designed by the M. Nicholas Collection for Mississippi Magazine. I get super pumped when I find that they are involved in a project, not just because I went to school with Matt and Emily, but that the team's work is extremely inspiring and original. I leave photo shoots in awe. Every single detail is taken care of.
I am in love with this bedroom... the contrasting pink panels, the pink welt on the chairs, and that awesome green sofa.
Even better? This is a young girl's room. Can you imagine growing up in here?
My parents couldn't have gotten me out of the house!

Top 5 Thursday

Here are just some things that are making me smile...

The sitting area in my office. I'm done!
I love this chair. It has been in storage since I got it from The Help set.

Doesn't this dress just scream my name?
I can't find where to get it.. or imagine where I would wear it, but I would come up with something!

This could be the best candle ever made.
It is the "house scent" of Flight, my dear friend Lauren's husband's restaurant in Memphis.
A. You should go there just for the food experience.
B. Notice the smell when you walk in. Seriously. I am not one to mix candles with food smells, but this works perfectly.
I need more.. it should be the "house scent" over here!

In my dream house, this would work perfectly.
The rich leather, the mustardy color, the contrast with the white walls.
I love this.

The Color Run.
If you are going to run 3 miles, shouldn't you have paint thrown at you?
This looks like so much fun.
I am totally in.

Have a wonderful day!
I'm having dinner with my girls tonight and am super pumped.
Whoop whoop!

Sip and See

Last night, we threw a Sip and See for our friends to visit with our newest girl, Lucy.
The little lady of honor is celebrating her 9 week birthday today and was an angel while being passed around and loved on while we all snacked and sipped.

Some of the delicious food. Anti- pasto skewers,
Gorganzola, Fig and Proscuitto flatbread,
Tomato cups, Fruit,
and Laura Merrills iced brownies

When the new mother has one request... jello shots,
we decided to class it up a bit.
This is how to do a jello shot.

The house cocktail around here is a daffodil-
champagne and pineapple juice over Sonic ice in a julep cup.

Yard flowers.

And the reason we were all together...
Sweet Lucy.

She partied until the very end, and we had a blast.
Definitely a great reason to celebrate!

Frida, the frog and flowers.
Happy Happy Friday.

I love being busy. Sitting still is really hard for me though I try to find time for it. I thrive with busyness though. I get way more done when there is tons to do.
One thing that has been lacking in my life is painting. I just cannot find the time to pull out paints and drop cloths and clean brushes. Oh, but this is so inspiring.

Those rich colors are beautiful. I need to find time. Anyone got a few spare hours to share?

The 95%

Sometimes I need a reality check in my own house. Your house? I can tell you exactly what to do. Mine? I stare at it for days/weeks/months and still sometimes can't get my head wrapped around it. That's where my mother comes in. With her trusty sidekick, Micheal. While he cleaned fans and windows and everything else in and out of the house yesterday, my mother and I wrapped up all the little details.

Especially in my office, which is now 95% done.

We even found a home for my Club Wispers sign.
(It will be hung.)

Can you believe it?
I am still looking for a chair for a sitting area (not photo-ed)
and we are putting a shelving system in the armoire.
And I think that mirror need a brown glaze.

But so close I can taste it!

Ham Cups

Do you ever think that you will never get to any of the things you have pinned on Pinterest? I do... especially the recipes. I don't cook that often and when I do, I stick to what I know.
I finally branched out on Sunday for my own little brunch..

It's a Ham Cup.

Seriously.. put a piece of ham in a muffin tin and load it up with an egg and some vegetables and such and throw it in the oven.
I made coffee and took a shower and Bam.
You're welcome.

Where the Grown Folks Play

When I moved to Greenwood 4 years ago, with my car packed to the brim with clothes and paintings and Frida, I took the Main Street exit into town and passed by the most amazing place I had ever seen.
Club Wispers.

I remember thinking
A. They spelled Whispers wrong.
B. I want to go there one day.

I never actually made it to Club Wispers. You're welcome Mom. I know it might not have been the best idea. But I LOVED that sign. I would purposely send visitors through downtown just to pass by.

This weekend at River to the Rails, Mainstreet Greenwood auctioned off that sign in panels.
There were several of Greenwoods finest hovering around the bid sheets at 3pm.
And I totally scored.

I have no idea what I am going to do with this, but something pretty fabulous will happen.
I would love to know what everyone else is doing with theirs!

Billy Balls

Speaking of Billy balls, or correctly, Craspedia, I am now obsessively collecting photos of these fabulous little balls o joy.

Don't they make you smile??
Happy Friday!
