Time Out

I am taking a blog- vacation.
Probably just a week or so- just to get my life organized and create some sort of original thought again.
My 12 hour days of spread sheets, lace table cloths and craft services are absolutely a great experience, and I feel I need to do more with my blog- baby than just repost other peoples beautiful photos.

I have several new ideas in my mind.
New BIG ideas! So hopefully, I will come back with a vengeance.
Don't forget me in the next little while!
Give me a shout out..
I need as much inspiration as I can get.

If I could..

I would have these floating down my dining table.

Then I would make the time to sit and have dinner there...

Show it off!

I find great store displays very inspirational. There is just something about great color, sometimes bigger than life presentations of product and all of that amazing organization that makes me giddy.
Display takes a great eye and lots of practice and patience. It was one of my all time favorite tasks at Oxford Floral years ago.

Though wild with stripes, Kate Spade's store still has enough neutrals to let your eye rest on what is important..
Like one of those aqua bags in the back!

Jonathan Adler's store is a great example of extravagance,
but the soft monochromatic scheme invites you in, and makes you feel so comfortable on that sofa.

Anthropologie always has amazing displays..
huge installations of art.
Super Inspirational,
and I usually end up wanting something not for sale!

Good display makes you wonder for a minute where you "need" an object. It allows you to imagine the beauty of it in your own home.
And it kind of makes you re- think online shopping!
Think of each surface in your home like a great display.
Show off your favorite objects at different heights and in creative ways.. and try to include something a little unexpected!

Every vignette has the opportunity to be imaginative and
oh so charming.

Sunshiney Day

I was thrilled when my Southern Living came in yesterday.
But it wasn't the interiors that were calling my name,
it was the beautiful lemon pie on the cover.
So after a quick trip to the store
I was little Betty Crocker for the day!
Ta- Da!

We were invited to a super cool pool party today.
I love to drink out of mason jars anyway,
but these awesome vintage
cocktail napkins made my day!

Now I am relaxing on the sofa.. stuffed and happy.
Hope everyone had a great weekend too!

Worlds Far and Away

I love Memphis- based Worlds Away.
Their pieces are gorgeous and so inspiring!

The style is actually where I came up with the nerve to transform this piece!

Some of my favorites..

While based in Memphis, the manufacturing of the pieces is done in San Miguel De Allende, Mexico.
When I lived in Memphis, I worked for a friend of the owner and got on the company's email list.
A little over a year ago, I received an email listing their home in San Miguel for rent by the week for the summer.
I jumped, leaped, screamed at the chance.
How could you not be inspired living here?

And walking down the hill to see this?

I lost the interior shots when my sweet computer died, but trust me.. Amazing.
They are so talented!
I am pretty obsessed with their coffee tables and feel a new project in the near future.
More to come!

Blame it on the Rain

Tonight, Nick will be working for an excellent cause.
He and 6 other chefs are having a benefit
dinner in Nashville for flood relief.
I'm very proud of my man.
And praying they have a successful evening!

Top 5 Tuesday: Greenwood Edition

I can't complain.
My life is good right now.
What am I saying.. my life is good period.
Just a few things that are making me smile this week..

My job: This little pair is going to be swimming over
to my house in a few months.

This website makes me smile. Thanks, dude.

Delta Delicacy Cakes from Mississippi Gift Company.
I am so happy that my new work crew
 is completely obsessed with them.
Though my hips are not happy.
Greenwood friends..
they now have Oatmeal Cookie
Ice Cream Sandwiches.
With homemade ice cream.
Well, they might not have them for long...

I get to drive up to this at my house everyday.
The crepe mertles in front of my house
burst open this past week.
They sold me the first time I saw them.
My McCarty windchimes from
my mom make me super happy.
It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

My main man, Jere Allen is coming to town.
If you need me Saturday evening,
I will be at Gallery Point Leflore.
Drooling like a dog.

I hope your week is just as happy!

Cultured Friday: C Jere

I am digging these sculptures by C. Jere so much lately.
Aren't they beautiful?

Curtis Jere is the teamwork of Jerry Fels and Curtis Freiler.
Started in the late 1950s, Curtis Jere created hand-made metal wall sculptures.
One of my favorite men, Jonathan Adler, had a love for C. Jere's work as well and partnered with the team to reissue these amazing 3-D works of art in 2007.

LOVE.

I'm taking donations..

I made the mistake of going to an estate sale on Grand Blvd. today.. at one of my favorite houses in town!
Stacks and Stacks of china, silver, linens.  Beautiful clothes, furs, jewelry. Furniture, lamps and chandeliers.
I was a good girl.. but take a look at what didn't go home with me.

Dreamy.. But where would it go in my house?
Can't you imagine stretching out on this?

This was a great piece.. and as someone obsessed with her silver, I know!
Does anyone need this?
It really needed a good home.

 Here it is...
This is what I went for..
It was just as pretty as I imagined
and fit my wrist perfectly.
Beautiful!
Could have done it for about 1/4 the price!
If I see it on your wrist.. we might fight.
No. But I might shed a tear.
And I will borrow it.

All in all...
I'm going back tomorrow and Saturday..
And
I'm taking donations.

Color Theory Thursday: RED!

I love RED.
I am not a red painted wall kind of girl, but I do love Red.

Red is associated with energy, passion, power and love.
It is emotionally intense and also enhances hunger...
Which is why so many people paint their dining rooms Red.

I love POPS of red.. especially against cool blues and turquoises.

Vintage Etsy Shopping

I started collecting "things" for my imaginary house at an oddly young age..
Pretty little items from my mother's or my grandmother's houses would end up in my bedroom where I would be "re-arranging".

This continues on to this day.
Some of my favorite things I use to decorate in my for- real house come from their houses.
Whether or not they are main accents in a room or just smile sweetly from a shelf,
they are special to me.. and not just something I picked up at a store.
I like items that have a story.. and if you don't know exactly whose house they came from, you can always make up a good story, right!?!
I found these pieces while having a good etsy stalking session last night. I think you can create a backstory for any of them!

Love the lattice pattern..
and seem very chic for a bourbon drink!

I would love several of these
in a row, maybe?

I have these actually!
A great steal from my Mia's house.

Aren't these great? A pair of swan towel rings.
I need to find a home for these, I think.

These seem very sophisicated
and would be great on a mantle or console table.

Great color for any room!

How about these sweet little things for a bathroom?
